GM KIM Ki Whang's curriculum

Does anyone know what GM Ki Whang KIM taught as far as curriculum goes? Which forms?

The last time I saw GM Kim was at the 1993 World Taekwondo Championships in New York City at Madison Square Garden. He was walking in the headquarters lobby, escorted by GM Tiger Kim, and I remember seeing GM YH Park, Sr. stopping in his tracks and bowing humbly to GM Kim. GM Kim passed away about a month later. I was shocked because he looked fine to me at World Championships.

Well according to there website GM Kim had liver cancer dating back to 1993. I also read their rules for their Eagle Tournament. By looking at what they allow during sparring, it appears their fighting style is similar to ITF. (FOAM DIP FOOT GEAR)

Well, to speak from what I remember as a child, the sparring was like any other traditional "point style." For many, the only protective gear used was a cup. I cannot say as far as forms go what exactly was taught, however I remember them looking very similar to what my association does (pyung ahns, bassai, naihanchi's, chinto, kang sung kun, etc.. .) There are pictures of GM KIM in positions that look like Ship soo (Jitte) or Wansu (Empi). I am uncertain if any of the Palgwe, Taeguk, or yundanja poomsaes of the KKW curriculum have the "static" palm up/palm down movements similar to what is found in Ship soo or Wansu.

I remember my sahbumnim telling me that Ki Whang KIM also knew "Korean Kung Fu." I guess that doesn't give you any definitive answer, but I was only 13 when KIM passed away.

So far as I know, they are TSD and use Pyung-Ahn forms.

Our curriculum?
Well it was much like other TSD schools today. We do Kibon 1-3, Old Kibons 1-4, Pians 1-5, Rohai, Yuk Soo Darion 1-5, Naihanchi 1-3, Bassai Dai, Ship Su, Jion, Sang Ku Kwon, Chinto, Chinte, Sabom Kwon, Kusanku, Dai Gi Ho.....and some other ones.

A question to you Kinghercules. Chinte is a form not widely used in Tang Soo Do schools but is pretty popular in Shotokan schools. My lineage goes through Richard Chun who was a student of Ki Whang Kim and I heard somewhere that Chinte is common to Ki Whang Kim's group. I'm learning this form now but I was wondering why Ki Whang Kim taught Chinte in his curriculum while a lot of other Tang Soo Do and Tae Kwon Do schools did not. And also, there is not a lot of information, portrayals, or descriptions of the Korean form of Chinte, Jin Soo, Chin Soo, or whatever you want to call it, out there. I was wondering if you knew of any websites or books that explain or go into some detail in regards to the form, just out of curiosity. Thanks.

No I dont know any websites for that. Like you said its Japanese. So you would have to look at their books about it. GM Kim changed it a little from the old videos I saw but it still is basically the same form. They way we do it is the Korean form of Chinte but ppl have changed it to what we see today as Jin Soo. From my understandin Ki Whang kept these group of forms because they were the ones that he wanted to teach, they're better quality and to show his lineage.
