Why Kerambits? Whats the advantages over or differences to a straight blade?

Obviously reach/length is compromised, but the styles I've seen work with this.
Its is nasty looking, but is asthetics really much of an advantage?

I imagine its probably just preference, but I curious to see what others think or know something I don't.

I honestly don't work with them, but I have been thinking about getting a trainer and starting to carry one as a utility knife. Right now I'm going with a pakal.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I just like the fluid feel of the motion when I use one in reverse grip! It's more that than a logical reason.

Personally, it's the aesthetics for me. I like how the blade 'feels' when performing drills and transitioning between moves. The reverse grip feels more comfortable and 'appropriate' to the arts I study and the movements I perform. The size of the blade is irrelavent, as it's primarily the trapping hands contact where the blade itself will come into play, slicing through forearm, bicep and mid-section with strikes and slashes. A wonderful weapon that compliments the arts beautifully, IMO:)
