12-14-2009 03:20 PM: After he gave Diego Sanchez a beatdown on Saturday night, he solidified himself as one of the best, if not the best, lightweight ever to wear the UFC championship belt. But that might not be enough for Penn.

He still wants another shot at the man he hasn't been able to beat, welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre.

“What B.J. really wants is to fight Georges St. Pierre,” Penn’s coach, Rudy Valentino, said. White said Penn may be two fights away from cleaning out the lightweight division, but said even if Penn does that, he’s not arbitrarily going to get an automatic title shot against St. Pierre. White said Penn would have to face whoever the No. 1 contender is at welterweight when it’s time to move up before getting a shot at St. Pierre.

St. Pierre, of course, has two wins over Penn, both at welterweight. The most recent one was an absolute drubbing by GSP that was later marred by greasing allegations from the Penn camp.

Normally, I don't like rematches. Unless it was a razor-thin decision, like Lyoto Machida-Mauricio Rua, or bad refereeing, like with Shane Nelson-Aaron Riley, they don't serve much of a purpose. Guy A beat Guy B, so why do they need to fight again?

There was nothing close about GSP's last win over Penn. However, in this one case, I do think Penn deserves just one more shot at GSP's belt. Not because of the greasing drama, but because the Penn who dismantled both Diego Sanchez and Kenny Florian in a four-month span is nowhere near the same fighter who faced St. Pierre at UFC 94. He has a new commitment to strength and conditioning, and was fresh as a daisy after beating on Sanchez for five rounds.

What do you think? Do you want to see a Penn-GSP rematch, should Penn face other welterweight contenders, or should "The Prodigy" stay as a lightweight?
