What are your favorites? I am feeling nostalgic and pulled out some really old vinyl, listening to the Repo Man soundtrack. So here are some of my favorites in no particular order:

1. Repo Man (the movie with Emelio Estevez)
2. Highlander
3. Pump Up The Volume
4. Oh Brother Where Art Thou
5. Songs from a Cool World (I think the first movie I saw Brad Pitt in)

Some good ones.

There are so many great musicals, that could almost be its own category. I mean, Man of La Mancha, Fiddler on the Roof, Jesus Chris Superstar, West Side Story.

Very true. I think we almost need to differentiate between movies that happen to have great music and movies that ARE great music.

Purple Rain....
:)
I was in a Jersey Mike's waiting for my lunch order. It was a while back when everyplace was just doing take out. Darling Nikki started up on the store radio, and I thought it must be a radio edit. It was not. For folks who are not familiar, that is a very naughty song. I looked around and I think I was the only person in the place listening to the music. :)

Where to rock operas fall? The Wall, Tommy, etc? Those are great, too... particularly the Wall.

This could easily become another eternal debate. Because we'd also have to split out iconic music that was written for the movie (e.g. the Star Wars theme) vs music that was great before being used in a movie. And do we need a separate category for TV shows? TV series vs TV movies?
Can of worms...

Oh, thought of another great movie with a killer soundtrack. Until the End of the World. The movie is okay, but not great. The music, however, is awesome.

Deep tracks from a ton of great bands, including Depeche Mode, Talking Heads, REM, KD Lang, and a ton of others.

Pulp Fiction, The Graduate, the Bodyguard, Superfly, loved them all.

But the original West Side Story still rocks my world. It just does.

I mean since this is a martial arts forum, how has no one mentioned The Last Dragon?! For those of you that don't know it Motown (yes the music company) made a martial arts film.

You are welcome
