Wow. Not including the variations, I thought the ~10 (3 kempos, 3 combos, 3 jujitsus, 1 form) per kyu was way too much. Can't imagine having 30 each kyu-I'd probably only ever make it to blue belt. I'd agree though, the good ideas come out at the beginning, after that it seems like they make...

There's probably around 80-100 total before black, I just only focus on the 26 that are 'combinations' since I believe they were the original techniques.

Having gone through it, with SKK at least, I see purpose to almost all of the techniques. Some of it is definitely redundant, even just limiting it to the 26, but there's purpose behind it. Definitely not planning to go back to kempo, just want to get the most out of it that I can.

    New video experiment

So before I get to my video experiment, two things need to be explained, first about how Shaolin Kempo Karate works, and about my recent history. Quick explanation of the style, at least at my main school (it varies from school to school): there are forms (which stay consistent), about 12-13...

    On Scouting (and advancement)

This is my first blog post, not just on here, but anywhere online. I'm writing it mostly to sort out my own thoughts, and share those thoughts for anyone interested. It's probably going to be much longer than it needs to be. It may or may not be coherent. If it is, great, if not, I don't really...

Yes, but why are you worrying about opening your own dojo when you are still an orange belt? You've got a long way to go. And like I said, we dont know the area your from or really anything about you so it would be much more beneficial to ask your dad and/or sensei for help in about 10 or more...

You should probably work on advancing past orange belt before worrying about that. Also, does your dad run a dojo? If so, may be easier to ask him, or whoever your own instructor is, for advice, since he knows your style and the area you live in, as well as your own abilities much better than we do.

By young age what do you mean? Are you still a teenager thinking about the future, in your twenties, thirties, etc. ?
