I have been training with Master Whitson since 2003 and my training with him is by far the best I have ever had. CTS is by far one of the most aplication based systems out there. If you really looking to get better and become truely spontaneous then give him a call.
I wish you the best

Hey Doc,
Looks like I got your attention! I should not have said "all the 1st generation instructors" but rather many of the 1st generation folks.
However, I do believe that you agree about what I am saying correct?
When you going to come hang out with Kevin & me out here?
The reason that most of the EPAK guys can not use their skill set is because EPAK is taught all wrong. Most everyone spends all their time training in technique lines and are never taught HOW TO APPLY TECHNIQUES AGAINST A FIGHTING OPPONET. Everything is taught from someone doing a step though...
What the heck is going on with all this horrible Kenpo weapons stuff?
NOW I KNOW I AM GONNA GET A BUNCH OF E MAILS SAYING THAT SO AND SO HAS DEVELOPED THIS AND THAT AND IT WORKS AND IT IS THE LATEST AND GREATEST THING. GM SO AND SO IS A EXPERT KNIFE/STICK FIGHTER AND PROFESSOR X OR Y JUST...
Ray,
Yo, I think I get what your trying to say but wow! To equate a heavy bag to a resistant opponet. Good luck with that. That may work where you live but that will get you killed down here in Hot-Lanta.
hahahaha
my experience in wing chung is very limited but you might want to check out the concepts of gate vs EPAK h,w d zones.... wing chung tirangles are often unpside down vs the epak anchor your elbows
I really like what you do my friend. How are those steamed crabs up there? That is my home town and I may be come up to visit soon. Maybe we can get together.

I am very well versed in what Zach does and yes that is exactly what I am talking about. Zach is my instructor and has been for several years now. What he does I do not see anyone else do and his influence is where I have gotten my ideas from. What he does in that clip is incredible. If you...
I agree that we are not going to pull of anything by the book and I also agree that you will probably never be able to pull of the entire technique. So in that regard we agree completely. But my original post was about crapy clips and never seeing anyone do anything on a resistant opponet. I...
Ok, let me try to explain it this way. For those of you who do FMA you may get my point and the purest EPAK guys may not. FMA guys spar all day long and they use there techniques that they were taught and practise when they spar. They learn how to counter and re conter there own techniques...
OK, Kenpo Joe, The fact that a student changed something up on you and you were able to respond is not that impressive. Sorry. I am not trying to be rude or disrespectful but any black belt should be able to do that much less someone who is as high ranking as you are sir. Show me you pulling...
YOU GUESSED IT! . I am looking to see a bit of countering and re countering. Personaly, the folks who can counter and then re counter are really the one that we would all consider quality martial artist.
Don't get me wrong. I understand that instruction clips are just that. INSTRUCTIONAL...
That was exactly my point. In the beging they are very fifferent but in the end they are the same again. It is just taking a different route to the mountain top.
A few years back I was at a Wing Chung seminar at Francis Fongs acadamy here in Atlanta. He and I were talking about the similarities between EPAK & Wing Chung and how they were very different from JKD & Kali. When he said this it blew me away because I have always thought that EPAK and JKD are...
SL4Drew,
I liked the clips that you posted and they are of high quality. However, it is still the same issue. We are still pulling of techniques with someone just standing there and not resisting?
I dont know if I would believe anything that Brian Hunter guy says. He likes to hit people with sticks when they are not looking. You can't trust anyone like that.
hahahahahaha

OK, I know that I am going to get a lot of crap for this one but I want to get the opinions of you all on this.
I am so freaking tried of all the bleeping crapy a^* videos/clips/youtube stuff out there showing a EPAK black belts doing techniques on someone who just stands there and lets...
I like that idea but then again I dont like it. What if the people at your school are not that great at judo? What if you are able to beat them pretty quickly? What if the opposite were true? What if you had a a few world class grapplers and you could never be able to beat them?
I dont think it is enough to reproduce countless techniques, sets and forms. What is realy the key (at least for me and my students) is that they can apply the techniques that they we taught. Proper body mechanics and understanding the system is very important. If I see another bleeping EPAK...
