This reminds me of something one of my old sensei's used to say. We went from being sensei/student, to co-students under the same sensei, and would work together a lot. I was slowly beating him more in sparring, and he told me for like a year that once he could no longer beat me, he'd quit kempo...
Thread locked as this is not a political forum. While discussions of useful technicals for restraining are allowed, and even specific discussion of how to adapt something that was done to a more appropriate technique may be allowed (if it avoids politics), discussion of what training police...
This makes no sense. You believe that they discriminate against non-thugs, where they will arrest them and not thugs? What is your definition of a thug, and why do you think it's different?
Where are you getting this info? You are in California, correct? If so, everything I am finding suggests...
This one was my own fault, but I traveled from NC to New York in January via plane. I realized first week of December that I had a day off I didn't realize, and could get there a day earlier. Went to try and change the flight, to another one that left the day before. Flights were essentially the...
The stupidity of the law is irrelevant to whether or not alan's (or anyone's) a law-abiding citizen though, if they are carrying something that breaks the law.
Had this happen to me a few years ago on my honeymoon. Don't remember the full details, but we had a flight set to leave at ~6AM, and got an email around 2AM (only, no call/text) that the flight was being cancelled and as a 'courtesy' they were moving us to a 4AM flight. We lived 2 hours from...
As posted above, jiu jitsu is a pretty good one, since it's all based on body feel.
If you can see the instructor, you could do tai chi forms work, but I wouldn't do any CMA sparring, except push hands, and I've heard that wing chun works well for blind folk (i've got no experience with wing...
If you have trouble with non-verbal queues, think about someone that you think you drill/train well with, and ask before you start if they want to partner up for the day. Then you can give them the eye contact you see, without fear of rejection.
Gassed out yesterday and missed the last round of sparring. It was after 2 hours of class, but I thought I'd managed my tempo to let me go five 3 minute rounds. A bit disappointed in myself-then the guy who wanted to spar me at the end asked me how many rounds I did, and I discovered I did do 5...
Even the posters here don't make their decisions on our nerdy analysis of the instructors. When looking for a new place, I found some that on paper were almost perfect, yet in-person they all had issues that made me decide against it. Then I ended up at a muay thai gym who's website didn't make...
Except you didn't say that you know he's seen combat. You said because of his role (and because of the role of your previous teacher) you know they've seen combat. Whether or not it's true that your specific instructors saw combat due to their role, it's not something you can say "If someone...
What's more effective then learning anti-grappling techniques is learning how to actually grapple. Then you can grapple your way away from grappling if you want.
A guy at the muay thai gym I'm now attending is participating in a full contact kyokushin tournament this weekend. A couple people are going to support him, so might see if someone can give me a ride-always found kyokushin fascinating.
I think a study like this would be almost impossible to get right, the way you're describing. Mostly in the street fight areas. Ignore the formatting, copy/pasting and adding my own comments made it a bit weird.
To take all your factors into account:
Skill level of the fighters
How would we...
Had to actually block my aunt on facebook after trying to explain this to her numerous times. She'd do things like posting pictures of us at christmas and tagging my fake name.
At one point, it was very important to me due to my work. I had not used even my first name anywhere (including here), except facebook where I had a private account and used a fake last name. If I thought someone found my account I did not want to, I was trigger-happy with nuking/rebuilding...
So to clarify: Do you or do you not think people can move others without touching them, by flowing qi around them?
I have not watched the video you posted yet, but will be watching it this weekend. That is likely irrelevant to the above question though.
You said steve brought up telekinesis. Which I brought up (and you knew, as you commented on me bringing it up). And whether or not you came up with the theories, if you are supporting/defending the theories that you can use qi to move other people without touching them, they are your theories...
This response alone tells us you don't know who you're talking too. If you can't spend the 5 seconds to read who you respond to before claiming what they say..what does that mean for the rest of your theories?
Yes. Which is why i originally asked if you had prior experience, and specified that if you do not, then I don't agree with it. If a karate black belt went to a tkd school like yours, i have no issues with them being ranked appropriately.
