I don't think students appreciate or understand the sacrifices teachers go through, until they become teachers. Good luck, as you transition into this next chapter of your life. It doesn't seem so much as retiring, but downsizing.
You do know you are free to play, as you wish?
another way to play
and still a third
I had this epiphany years ago. One time I play, as I was taught. The next, smooth but faster. The next, smooth adding the Fa-Jing. I make my Tai Ji, my Tai Ji; I own it.
Before this I wanted to...
Not necessarily. At my house it is over the top, except for the Winter; when the heater blows and unrolls it. Although, I've been experimenting with crushing the roll slightly; this seems to work. It also helps limit over-rolling when unrolling.
I've experienced a similar situation. Yes, press on; this gives you something to measure against. Better to spend 15 years looking for the right teacher, than 5 years training with the wrong one. Oh, and don't be too hard on yourself, you don't know what you don't know.
This was just thrown together quick, so folks get the idea. Of course, all your suggestions would make it better. Including being able to adjust the height.
Build your own, and have fun with it.
Interesting...
My Sifu would say good Kung Fu is just good Kung Fu.
All martial arts should have proper body mechanics and energy.
I think these basics have been lost over the years, due to people simply studying from video, not touching hands, etc; not really knowing.
Sorry, the things you write; sound exactly like ideas I've been taught.
The way we define Hung Gar is strong stance, power issued to the extremities; through the Dan Tien. Sound familiar?
I don't meet many other people who have strong training. I would have to say, you do. I hope we could...
I've often thought about manufacturing some kind of Kevlar neck wrap. Most big cats attack from behind and kill by suffocation.
I've also thought about carrying in state parks. Would it be better to have to answer for that, and be alive or the other alternative?
I've come to feel rich people telling you "you don't want all this money, it only brings problems". Is a way of keeping poorer people, in check. After all, there are more poor people than rich.
Socially, there should be safe, affordable housing for all people.
One verse of the Tao Te Ching...
Here in New England, once the weather gets crisp, the air is often filled with the smell of smoke from fires. I used to think it was great, I even burned some myself. Now, I am repulsed and think its just pollution.
I also imagine its the way the US smelled regularly, before cleaner burning...
When someone comes along and provides a way to measure your ability vs theirs, and you quickly realize you've just been waving your arms in the air; the whole time. But, at least now you have something to measure against; and know.
I remember one of his cases there was a road race after a blueberry pie eating contest. The boy that won was suspected of cheating. It was solved by the fact his teeth weren't stained, after eating the pie. It turns out, he had a twin brother and they switched places at some blind spot...
Mostly Daphne...
But on a whole, solving the mystery and after watching it multiple times; what I missed.
Oh, and then when a secret passage or door will open, it becomes a different shade.
Now that your a Moderator, I look at your avatar differently. You know, finally lost your patience, slams palm on bricks and yells this thread is closed.
Interesting point, I never connected a timeline. Honestly, I wasn't into the movie. And, other than Scooby Doo, I watch movies or shows to be entertained; not think.
Yes. The back story was Alice and her son Tommy were on their way to CA, their car broke down in Arizona; and that is where they stayed.
Supposedly she was divorced, but who knows? Now the telling of Daniel's story might be a second attempt to get the truth out there.
Some times you have to...
One take away from part 2 was even with his extensive knowledge, Miyagi only taught Daniel a portion.
Notice any similarities between the opening scene and the opening scenes from Alice?
Read "Lies my teacher told me", earlier this winter; a real eye opener.
I also, saw a show on CPTV last night about the Spanish colonizing Southern Florida- Saint Augustine area, and they had a fort a little north. I forget the name of the Native Americans, it started with a "T".
Oh, it made...
So, this group I met up with; I mentioned my training and one of them commented about wanting to learn Tai Chi. Another member said, "ah, you can just do our forms at Tai Chi speed and get the same workout". I invited them both to a seminar, to educate them; neither took me up on the offer...
