Doc could you expand on what the proper context for a thrusting inward block is. Thank you.
Could it be when the thrusting block to the arm continues into a thrust punch to the head as in the tecnique DARTING MACE - or do you still use a hammering inward block and then graft into the...
Thanks for the swift and knowledgable response GD.
It was the first time for me to see the code with an attached description.
Very cool. Do you have all of the freestyle techniques written out?
Sendai Kenpo :asian:
I was looking through the freestyle techniques and got stumped on this one. Can you crack this code for me?

As Johah said, i have tried to ID most of the Kenpo clubs in England and Wales (over 70 clubs). You are right in saying that they are concentrated towards the South West of England, since that`s where Kenpo first arrived (Swindon in 1966...I believe). However there are Kenpo clubs...
I`ve finally got round to posting my thoughts on the 5 books I recommened. I`ll start in reverse order:

To all students and Instructors
I teach American Kenpo Karate (24 techniques per level) to a small club based in Japan. I have about 12 students at the moment who train once or twice a week. There are no private lessons outside of the class.
The joy and curse of kenpo is the amount of...
I was wondering how different clubs organise their training sessions in different parts of the world?
Private class, seperate grade level group class, Beginner/Intermediate/Senior group Class, multi grade group class- I wanted to make a poll but couldn`t find the button :-(
Dr Ron Chapel recently talked about the 4 Stages of Range. When talking of the 1 Stage (Out of Range/Contact) he mentioned that it has a sub-category called Psychology of Confrontation Theory.
In my opinion important information regarding Stage 1 (Out of Range/Contact) includes the...
Dr Chapel talked about each Stage of Contact/Range having increasing numbers of sub-category(s) as the range decreases. That is, Stage 1 has 1 sub-category; Stage 2 has 2 or more sub-categories; Stage 3 has 3 or more sub-categories Stage 4 has 4 or more categories.
Does each individual...
How to teach and how students learn is fascinating. Great topic.
There is a lot of information about how students teach and different ways to teach. I teach English and find the more I learn about Education the more it is applicable to how I teach kenpo.
One interesting man was...
Thanks for those websites.:)
In my second lesson, I found out that I would be learning toyama Ryu; the sword fighting techniques of the Japanese Army WWII era.
Enjoying learning around the sword. :) .
I am starting to learn japanese sword fighting. Can you suggest any webpages where I can find lablled diagrams of sword and sword parts. In fact any webpages with a history of japanese swords would be great.
I held my instructors sword on my first lesson. It was heavy:). is...
Looking to the future. I believe that Mr Kevin Mills from England will have the greatest impact on my ;) (EPAK) Kenpo training over the next 10 years.

When talking about self defence techniques, the following statements are often heard:

If the attacker has only grabbed your wrist; why not just kick them. Short and Sweet.

A few years ago, June 1999 I think. GM Larry Tatum came to Exeter, England to give a 2 day seminar.
On the second day he told us how he was getting his high grade students to apply their existing knowledge of kenpo to the ground. At first they struggled but soon saw the light.
I am interested in how the body reacts to combat situations. Some authors call the body`s reaction the Adrenal dumpE Survival Stress Reaction (SRR)E(Any other terms for it?)
