Not to rave (lol) but I could only imagine the philosophy in Iaido. Aikido opened up the universe for me. I started to understand things from a universal perspective. How many years did you study? I'm looking to take kung fu or judo next myself.
I lived in a quiet town in Italy (gricingano di aversa) for a good number of years. I just came back to the states to be honest. I think you and I should have a beer-- I would buy. And I would probably flood you with questions about Iaido. I respect your art very much. You know Aikido can...
Now I'm not saying you should fight every time violence rears it's ugly head but do you know that martial artist who is always talking about how bad their art is or how dangerous they could be if they unleashed their doomsday moves but every single time they should fight, b/c sometimes you...
okay......? don't you know kung fu as well? Anyway, that's not what I'm getting at. Iaido is half of the battle, Sir. I think you should learn unarmed combat techniques just in case you get into a fight. Unless of course you just always turn your cheek. Then it wouldn't matter I guess.
No, you have no understanding of budo from your comment. You have no idea what a thug is. His an anti-bully. He just sees no honor in competition. Why do people with your opinion think that martial disciplines are only theory for debate? If you saw a person getting assaulted in the alley...
papi-sensei,
Your son is a warrior. He clearly understands martial arts. Him defending weaker kids getting bullied is beautiful. One of the ultimate expressions of martial arts; I can not express that enough!!!! In his youth he understands what most of these upstart, stuffy...
You know what.... I would edit that post and change all of the 'u' 's to 'you' just for you and all the people you mentioned but I can't, sorry; really. I have an aside for your post. Have you ever used Iaido in the street? Do you find it practical? Do you have any hand or foot techniques?
I want to share this. It has come to my attention that japanese mindsets on power delivery, made infinitely powerful by o-sensei are really damaging when articulated by traditionally hard hitting strikes. Strike throughout the target but there's a deft touch u know? Anybody else study hard and soft?
How many 'tournament' fighters got knocked out, embarrassed, or beat up thinking otherwise. Remember new people if u get into a fight in the street and must fight, do not think a referee will save u. U are in the street. Trust what ur art says or begs u to do even if its talk, yell and strike...
You're right I don't know you and you don't know what I'm talking about. Honestly, why you train or teach doesn't matter to me either. I'm glad you think martial arts is fun.
I am a veteran of 2 wars and I have fought for my life in a few times on the street. So when you use martial arts to defeat somebody who wants to kill you it puts a great many things into perspective. I hope someday you get the oppurtunity to test what your studies of gifted you :)
stance, guard, footwork are parts of the art. I quit fighting after I started Aikido. Now I just apply techniques in combat situations. I fight with my wife about stupid stuff.
I don't think you undertsand what I'm saying. A form is perfect. You strive towards perfection. A person trying to do a technique perfectly or with perfect form is obviously not perfect. He or she can never be perfect or achieve perfection. The form is the technique as it occurs in purity...
