    What is Kajukenbo ?

Hey guys, been a while since I've posted something on Martial Talk. Anyways, I was searching on Wikipedia, and I stumbled across this relatively new Hawaiian art called "Kajukenbo". Can anyone give me some more info about this art. I was watching a couple vids on youtube about it, and it seems...

    Type of Teacher ?

Hi folks, This came to my mind a couple weeks back but never thought of asking you guys about your opinions. What type of taekwondo teacher is best ? In other words, are traditional teachers better, the ones who know the core of the art, or modern teachers, the ones who are up to date with...

    Splits

Like IcemanSK said, you can stretch all you want, but some folks will never be able to do the splits no matter what they do. But to answer your question, results don't just appear overnight. Just like using the bowflex; you won't be able to have those abs in one sitting. It takes time. My...

    Burnout

I'm an assistant instructor at my school but I really liked the suggestion of creating an out-of-school activity! But I'm wondering what I can do personally so that if this ever arises, what can I do to avoid burnout as fast as possible ? Do I start a new martial art, what else can I do ?

    Burnout

Lately I've been seeing students at my school either drop out or not coming to class on a regular basis and I think it's probably because of martial arts burnout. I haven't really experienced burnout during my Taekwondo Training, but I've been thinking, "what will I do if that happens to me?"...

Finding a Taekwondo School in Philippines

I know Taekwondo isn't a Filipino martial art but hopefully there are a lot of Filipinos in this section who are knowledgeable of martial arts centres in Philippines, especially within the San Pedro, Laguna Area. I'm looking for a Taekwondo training facillity, but googling it doesn't help...

    hapkido vs wing chun

I gotta agree. If you don't fit well with the style, then you won't be able to maximize youre training and knowledge. It all depends upon you. As everyone says, any martial art style is excellent, but it all depends upon who you train with, the instructor that trains you, you're enthusiasm for...

    Terminology and language

One of the masters at my school came from Korea about 3 years ago, and her english isn't really perfect. We usually count in korean, and she expresses the kicks in korean (i.e. Front Kick = Ap Chagi) Other than that, we usually talk in English

MA vs. Non MA in the civil service fields

I agree. Sometimes, people criticize you for your art even though they dont practice it! What really aggravates me the most is when they say that it sucks or its not practical. It's kinda surprising that you weren't hired at your first interview because don't correctional officers need some...

    Describe a typical class.

My school usually mixes up the order a bit. But sometimes it's like this: 1. Say hello to everyone in the foyer 2. Bow when entering the dojang. 3. Bow to instructors/flags . 4. Run/Stretch for 15 minutes. 5. Practice kicking/striking 6. Practice poomsae 7. Sparring 8. Practicing blocks
