I agree with most of your analysis, except the very first issue you mention. The hands being low at the beginning.
I think that's useful to practice sometimes-if someone comes and tackles you when you're not already in guard, how quickly can you move your hand to position. Similar to how people...
Yup. I've told people (including my wife) exactly that when there have been scares in the past. Particularly with her plays, if there's a scare, just because people don't show up positive doesn't mean they don't have it and are spreading to the rest of the cast.
She normally thinks I'm being...
Wife and I have both been feeling miserable since tuesday. Took rapid & pcr test wednesday, rapid thursday, all negative. But stayed home from work skipped out on a hike with my dad and a mets game cause I didn't want to spread whatever I did have.
Wife is stage managing a play and they're...
I know this has been generally discussed in the past, but I'm interested in actually starting it out. Thinking about starting a play-by-post rpg game with pure martial characters. The idea would be to focus on whatever style you actually practice, and would be more rpg-based than technical...
Yup. Anyone willing to put themselves out there on video, and discuss their own shortcomings and how to improve is welcome here. Whether it's an expert or beginner, all of us can learn about our own shortcomings that way.
BJJ is an insane cardio workout while also being tons of fun. Good combo, there. To quote Robert California from the office "Trust me, one nine minute bout is the cardiovascular equivalent of running uphill for three hours. I could go to the gym three times a week, or I could wrestle Stu once a...
I do that on most threads. The only time I reply is when I think there's miscommunication, I'm acting as a mod (which I'm not here), I need clarification (which I did here) or I feel I have something valuable to share (which I potentially could depending on the clarification).
That wasn't me asking for debate, but rather clarification of your question. However, the answer is no. Just as obviously a no as it would be to say no to the question "is the sun green".
My opinion is that the question doesn't make sense. It's like asking "Do you think the sun is green", which is why I asked why would it be. The question itself seems so bizarre and obviously one-sided that I don't understand it's purpose.
I have as much respect for you as I do anyone else here. But if you're going to provide a communication boundary that's basically the antithesis of the place your posting, I do wish to know why before I accept it. I also am not forcing you to reply to me at all.
That's why I specified BJJ tournaments if he's (the kid's) not interested in MMA, or dad thinks that would be a bad idea. And OP doesn't have to show him BJJ tournaments and tell him that's where he's headed, but from how I read it, he's actively avoiding having his son watch BJJ tournaments...
At a month in, aggressive people are probably going to beat him. It takes a bit to learn to handle that. That said, why do you not let him watch videos of UFC, or at least BJJ tournaments? To succeed in pretty much any sport you need to see what people at a high level are doing and learn why...
Mostly, yes. Especially the second one, is a 'polite' way of telling someone "we're done here". The first is something you typically say when you expect a conversation is ending, but not always you telling the person it's done. So if I think you're about to leave somewhere I could say "have a...
So are you not having a strong enough internal reaction that you have to start moving your mind and fingers to say something back? The evidence suggests otherwise..
So this is going by my own memory, which can also be faulty, but I think I might know what you misremembered.
I believe the WBA has (or had) a rule that boxers were not allowed to engage in fights with 'civilians', with the penalty being that you'd be kicked out of the organization and lose...
If you're curious, here's the official documentation: https://statecodesfiles.justia.com/guam/2019/title-10/division-3/chapter-62/chapter-62.pdf?ts=1580422412
There's a one-time registration fee, but that fee's only $5.00 (US). Not enough to be any sort of revenue fee.
Oh, and if you don't...
Unless you live in Guam, this is not true at all. Even in Guam, there's no card, you are just supposed to register as a deadly weapon. No card is given out.
What's weird there is you register with the department of revenue and taxation, which seems like an odd place to do it.
I went to a JKD school for an incredibly brief period of time (less than a month). But I do remember that the teacher there informed me they do not have any forms in JKD (or at least that JKD style/branch).
One of many paths (if MMA is your goal). You can start with mma if you want and learn everything there. You could go kickboxing - judo - BJJ - MMA, where you learn each separately and combine. You could replace kickboxing with MT, or boxing and TKD. You could replace Sanda with BJJ or kenpo, or...
It's not an actual rank though. No one on active on here thinks it means you are a 2nd degree black belt (and when someone new comes in and does they get corrected like Tony did).
