Has anyone studied under Grandmaster JiMong Choe?

Nothing cosmic. Pretty decent. Learned some moves. Wanted to stay around and see the ground game, but it became super-secret agent squirrel stuff only available to members. Getting my shoes on and they started rollin'. Looked a lot like BJJ. The other place was open about the GJJ being a...

    Liam Neeson Vs PETA

You guys are lucky. I live in Norfolk, VA where they have their HQ. PETA kills about 90% of the animals they take in. They do know death. When my dog had to be put down (long story), PETA put her down for free and allowed us to store her body there until we could get the money to have her...

Has anyone studied under Grandmaster JiMong Choe?

That's the thing that made me really uneasy. Talked to a couple people and they seem to enjoy it. Will be trying the free lessons this week. Other place I'm looking at teaches Tang Soo Do and BJJ.

Another ATA 5 year old black belt

I've read what you said. A lot of what you've said. The ONLY thing you've been consistent in, is your hate of anything Korean. Again, there's a BIG difference between saying that you don't like the way things are done and saying that an entire culture is nothing but thieves and liars. My guess...

Another ATA 5 year old black belt

Thing is, reading your posts, you come across as hating the entire korean culture and that you actively LOATHE TKD. I'm not a fan of TKD, but even to me, you seem to go overboard. It's one thing to be critical of an art for making unfounded claims, and another to call an entire people thieves...

Another ATA 5 year old black belt

From what I've read, when Korea had it's "revolt" in 1919, Japan forcefully banned all things Korean and made all things Japanese mandatory. I had to write a paper on Hap Ki Do so seeing it in a historical light made me a bit more appreciative of what the Korean government did after WWII.

Dude, you really need to get over it. ALL matial arts are loaded with lies and theft. It's the nature of the beast. Deal with it.

    Thoughts on ATA TKD?

From my personal experience, I find that the ATA TKD is a joke. I used to beat up their black belts all the time. And my martial arts training came from books, movies, and wrasslin'. If I were looking for TKD dojang, I'd look at some place else.

Another ATA 5 year old black belt

As several people have pointed out, there are good and bad TKD schools. I don't hold the ATA in high regard due to personal experience. First, I've fought ATA TKD black belts and found their training to be...less than lacking (to give you an idea of my martial arts training: my brother and I...

    Why did you choose kenpo?

I worked with a guy who studied Kenpo. We talked alot about martial arts and when he opened his school I joined. A quit a few months later and started studying FMA, silat, and muay thai from a navy spouse. I enjoyed kenpo, but I got more out of the other arts.
