Very, very discouraged - It seems Taekwondo is not for me

I actually had more time for overweight people in the gym who were motivated than people forced by their health insurance to do it. I remember a woman who in our talk before training said the health insurance are paying for my membership as she was very overweight, high blood pressure. Her...

Was Funakoshi Gichin a "sell out"?

I remember i spoke to Suzuki Sensei in the UK and spoke about shotokan and "Oyama Karate". He said, only with power. talking about the 2 mentioned styles. I might come over as a ranting macho but i liked the Wado Ryu principles of yielding and attacking. very nice style.

Was Funakoshi Gichin a "sell out"?

what i disliked about shotokan was all the deep stances. I know they stand higher with fighting but i hated the low snail like stances. maybe they mean it to strenghten your lower body and i never understood it. I liked Wado much better. Indeed as was wrote on this thread the original...

Good advice Alan.. i do some warm ups but being honest it織s usually on my bike at home, i have a staitonary bike as well as my other bike. Some basic stretches which involve delts/traps/neck. It織s amazing how certain parts of your neck affect different muscles.

    Jukendo (Japanese Bayonet Fencing).

Bump this up... yes the British army still teach Bayonet fighting. Used even in modern warfare. Falkland Island bayonet was used to great effect also in more recent conflicts. The Cold steel we called it. Some modern armies do not teach it but that is a mistake . warning bad language !

Do you need to hate your attacker?

you do get some weird mentalities though.. i remember a very Far Left guy telling me he hated war, which is ok. I asked how he deals with conflicts and because of his opinions on war i said so what would you do if you were a soldier and another man was going to put a bayonet through you or...

X2 definetly . The wrestlers bridge i always avoided. Too dangerous in my opinion. I know lots of coaches used it in wrestling & boxing . people like Mike Tyson built huge necks with it.
