    Fancy Kicks

yes, since I train in TKD it's all a part of my art, however, spin kicks are amazing, when used right, they can be devastating, I voted "saved my life with one" because it did, I was getting smashed, until I saw an opening and landed a reverse side kick into his chest. Boom. end fight

ah... I might look into kali... I have looked at the gyms around, but they are mostly geared towards adults... and, to admit... the gyms around look kinda dodgy... :( I might look into local Kali classes. The only problem is, I get the feeling they might be very commercial (rather than art...

Side Kicks - nasty sons o' guns!

hurts like a Mo F**** when the other guy misses and hits you on the bare shoulder instead... It is an amzing kick when well placed. I ended a match with a reverse side kick counter to the chest, he just collapsed... I was down by 3 points at the time too another amazing kick has to be the hook...

Kids these days... Question for instructors.

didn't think of that... but the thing is, my instructor will only use this method for students who are not prepared to go to grading when the time comes... I will have to come up with a different method when I one on one the slower kids... :disgust:

    Preferred weapon choice

not in the state I live... I mean an officer has seen me with one, I made my own using my many broken drumsticks so it doesn't look threatening... and this is the NSW prohibited weapons act http://www.jkd.com.au/forms/Prohibited%20weapons%20law%20&%20list%20NSW.pdf

    Youth Black Belts

Ah! that's what was meant! to spar, we wear no gear and contact is allowed, every once in a while, our instructor brings in all the competition gear, having a mini tournament lesson (usually atleast once a term), we revise all taeguk patterns and all the patterns relating to belt level, Kumgang...

in my humble, minimal experience compared to you, I would move schools but continue this art and also search for a secondary art :) also, please don't say Dojo as a taekwondo practitioner... U

Where Does Taekwondo End, and Gymnastics Begin?

There is taekwondo, then martial arts tricking and finally gymnastics. I think Taekwondo ends, when more than 2 kicks are thrown in the air... my personal opinion though

I check the laws regularly and it seems that there are no mentions of kubotans at all, batons, yes, kubotans, no. But you know how australia is, they see you used a pen in a fight and they'll probably try to ban pens as well :idunno:

I imagine so, my club isn't the best, largest club around, but it isn't corrupt like other commercial schools, it is small and not well known. However, I tried for 3 long years for this belt, training every day at home and making sure to go to classes atleast twice a week (this was hard as...

well, I didn't know either... I put my real age and an admin put me through. :idunno: but on the TKD subject, I do traditional, with parts of Hapkido in our curriculum, he absolutely loves Hapkido and thus wants us to learn that too. He urges me to learn the Patterns and all traditional aspects...

    vs hard kicker

in my personal TKD club, we do contact sparring with no pads, to counter kicks, legs, head, chest, etc. I prefer footwork, OR use the opening that is made as he kicks to land in a kick. block low, cutting off the kick at its weakest point and land a counter :)

    new member, Hi All!

I'm a 14 year old male, from NSW Australia. I have been doing taekwondo for over half my short life, (8 years) I am a 1st Dan in TKD. Kids these days... Question for instructors.

I only assist, but my instructor has a good system (TKD) he get's all the students that performed well to sit, then, he gets the not quite acceptable students to stand, then, he will request for them to do it again, one by one, makes them concentrate more. shows them embarrassment. It's how I...

since I train in only TKD (thinking of joining Hapkido soon. I'm a HUGE patriot to my country) we don't use weapons. My instructor also does Hapkido and thus teaches us staff techniques, our grandmaster is also practitioner of Hapkido (9th dan in TKD and Hapkido) he decided to put in...

I'm 14 years of age, started when I was 6, I like to think I deserve my 1st Dan, I went, and failed one grading, which actually tells you that you need to be of a good standard, I train with adults, I am able to assist the young ones more so in the kicks rather than patterns, :boing2:I passed...

    T.K.D. is dead

I agree, but not completely, the club of which I participate in, we are full of teenagers and older men, why? because us teenagers are the ones that joined as little kids, the reason our club has an ageing population, is because of the fact that children do not join these days, they all want...
