Is Boxing Chess? Is MMA Poker?

Interesting point! MMA does have a higher level of randomness than boxing, considering it allows more ways of fighting. But can't that be considered just boxing with less rules? Examples below may help explain my point: ** boxing that only allow left fist vs boxing ** boxing vs MMA So I would...

Which kung fu style should a person who's never done an MA before learn?

Just like someone here pointed out, it's best to visit each of the school, see how they teach students. Wing Chun and Shaolin Kung Fu are more popular than Fujian White Crane, there must be a reason why people choose the former two. But it really depends on your own preference. Also a good...

tae-kwon-do vs wing chun in non-sport combat?

Tae-Kwon-Do and Wing Chun seem to be the two very popular boards on MT, and I guess they are two of the most popular martial art styles too. They are so different: Tae-Kwon-Do is a Korean martial art. It focuses on kicks and flexibility. Wing Chun is a Chinese martial art. It focuses on hand...

How can I keep my youngster interested?

You know adult classes are very different from kid classes. Get a nice instructor who's good at teaching kids or at least who has the time to take care of the kids with patience. One suggestion is to show your daughter some good martial art movies. She might be interested.

How important is pushing your limits in MA?

It's kinda hard to know your own limits both physically and mentally. Pushing your limits day by day gradually will get a better training experience and understand what the limit really is. For me, I don't want to break my legs or something.

That's what I found on the dictionary.com. The explanation from other dictionaries is similar. It may not have defined martial arts accurately, but it did show the crossover between martial arts and self-defense.

Can Bruce Lee's Kung Fu philosophy be used on other martial arts?

Thanks, that does make sense. I also see that in Tai Chi. I also play tennis. If the muscle is relaxed, the swing speed of the racket is fast just like a whip.

Can Bruce Lee's Kung Fu philosophy be used on other martial arts?

I am a big fan of Bruce Lee. Yesterday I watched one of his interviews online. He said: “You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot...
