    Martial Arts Literature

Yes! I could not agree more, that one is absolutely amazing. A very similar one to that, in which Nicholas Pettas, another Uchi Deshi at the time mentioned Judd Reid being there as well is "Blue Eyed Samurai". Its really genuine descriptions and is beautiful to read. I also found it entertaining...

    Martial Arts Literature

OSU guys! I hope everyone is well, safe, healthy and keeping fit as best as possible during these extraordinary times. Since most of us are getting a lot more time indoors and therefore exploring new things to do, I wanted to share something that I am using this time for: reading even more...

    FEAR

Mate, please! Are we here to discuss martial arts or to analyze the English language? You know exactly what I meant: giving absolutely everything and then finding the courage to continue. It doesn't matter what you call it at the end of the day, I made the mistake to use the number or this...

    FEAR

Yes, with all due respect, however, I will repeat myself by saying that we all have our differences and our own experiences, and backgrounds that will determine our individual mindset. The same applies to my coaches, mentors, and father. It would be rather foolish to simply think that there is...

    FEAR

I see what you are seeing. Interesting perspective indeed. We all have our own experiences and that is something we must all respect and I do so very much enjoy that about these forums. I still do believe pain has mental aspects to it: biological, psychological and emotional factors. I do...

    FEAR

Hahaha exactly. Well, I have to say it can be good and bad. I had to learn the hard way that it is a 50/50 lottery of something going horribly wrong!

    Methods to Wrap Hands

Ooh yes absolutely!! I have broken my thumb 4 times already in Kyokushin championships from clipping the elbow. At this point, I have figured out a few tricks though. I think its really good to know what to watch out for in those situations. A very interesting perspective to bring into this...

    FEAR

Here is something I started thinking at age 13 that helped me get past some of my first professional fights and training: I started accepting that you can't run away from fear and that training hard will always be important but you cant only see how hard you train as the only factor that will...

The inspiration thread: The Self-Isolation training of Sosai Mas Oyama

By the way... Anyone else have the original "What is Karate" and "This is Karate" books from Sosai Mas Oyama? I am fortunate enough to own both and would gladly share some of the really cool stuff in there!

The inspiration thread: The Self-Isolation training of Sosai Mas Oyama

OSU! The more I think about it, I completely agree with you there! Genuine passion speaks much louder than any words can. I really aspire to be that person. It's a long journey!! :) Thank you so much by the way. I try my best. I hope to see you around on the forum!

The inspiration thread: The Self-Isolation training of Sosai Mas Oyama

Very good point! It truly is inspiring what Sosai Mas Oyama did. People need that kind of strength and will power now. I will definitely try and inspire some of my clients and follower on YouTube channel etc... to use him as an inspiration. I have been having the hardest time trying to motivate...

    Muay Thai Advice For Beginners

Mate, it happens to the best of us! I really am not an expert advice giver but I would say, stick your head up and change your mentality. One mentality that worked for me really well was to see everything lying behind the pain. Sometimes I even remember accepting that no matter how hard I...

    kickboxing/muay thai

I use switch kicks to sweep people with the right low kick. Basically, you switch, through a light low kick with the left, do it again after a bit and make sure they check it. The third time they do it, smash into that inner thigh with the right leg with lightning speed.

    In these strange times....

What new things is everyone trying during this time? I was able to take a little dive into building my YouTube channel for lesson videos, get fight ready for after this is over and read a lot of interesting martial arts literature and publications. Furthermore, I have also started gymnastics...

    Methods to Wrap Hands

Well mate, the thing is, there are a few articles out there arguing both sides of it. I don't want to get into the whole debate about which is a better source or side of the argument but what I will say is that it comes down to what you believe and what works for you. This is a personal opinion...

    Methods to Wrap Hands

Haha, I would have to agree with you on that one. I myself barely remember one technique for longer than a week. I am still trying to remember the one my cornerman used in every single one of my pro fights (its a quite insane actually :) ). But thank you for sharing when you do use wraps...

    Methods to Wrap Hands

Well, that is fair enough obviously. As a Kyokushin practitioner, I would agree with that of course. We never use wraps either. However, I simply find it is not something you can always completely ignore when stepping into boxing or kickboxing (and since this is a thread in the boxing kickboxing...

    Methods to Wrap Hands

    Free Kyokushin Karate Lesson

Hey guys. I recently spent 5 months creating a project which I have been wanting to make for a while: 8 Kyokushin Karate lesson videos broken down into 6 aspects of kyokushin karate that I believe are important to learn. In my videos I try to not just quickly cover each technique with flashy 10...
