Absolutely there is benefit to doing the "Hong Jong"!! Obviously the dummy isn't going to move for you. There are techniques on the dummy where you have to use your imagination and picture finishing a motion that you can't finish because the dummy arm doesn't move the way an opponent's arm...

True! I recognize that analogies like this will only take you so far and all break down at some point. But after thinking about it for awhile now, what I came up with seems the most internally consistent....at least to me! ;)
Did anyone learn this concept in their lineage? So far I have seen it in Ho Kam Ming/Augustine Fong lineage, Wong Shun Leung lineage, and Lee Shing lineage (maybe from Lok Yiu?).

Biu Gee for "emergency techniques." The form is about recovering from a "Bai Ying" position. The opponent has put you at a disadvantage by making you turn, fold, cross your arms, etc. The form is about recovering from that position. It isn't about "super deadly secret" techniques at all...
