    Importance of takedowns

    I think that takedowns should be emphasized just as much as other things such as the guard. I have a question, if you can't take a person down how do you get into a dominant position whether it be the guard, mount, etc.?

    Gi or no-gi, which is safer?

    I think that throws that only work with a gi are not really meant to be used in a comfrontaition in real life because I don't think anyone is going to walk around town with a gi on. I think that it's good to train the techniques with and without a gi.
