From the licensing company:
"Is it legal to play purchased iTunes music on my iPod/iPad/iPhone, CDs, MP3s or digital files for background music?
It is common in our digital age to be confused as to whether we own our digital content.
When you pay to download music or even movies for that...
Flying Crane, thanks, that's great information. But there are different laws state by state. Maybe they do it different out there. My previous Sifu was a lawyer, and he didn't see any issues with the waiver holding up here in Texas. It's far outside of my realm though... So yeah, it might be a...
There's no "pay a fee and our trainers can play whatever they want off their ipod" license. That's not the way it works. Even if the business has a PPL for the other material they normally play, this does not cover whatever other material the trainers are playing. They can not play privately...
I think the gross negligence of a road roller falling off would be addressed a bit differently than a few rocks flying out the back of a dumptruck as it goes down the road. But I agree, it's stupid. Speaking as someone who had their windshield broken by one of those rocks lol
It was a live stream, so I'm going to see if I can rip it off FB and upload it to YouTube. In the meanwhile, here's a clip of me on the snotty end of a one inch punch from my previous Sifu.
It is illegal if the trainers are playing it. Personally purchased music is not for commercial use. Even if the establishment has a license, the material can not be the personal material of the trainers. This music is licensed to the consumer for personal use when they purchase it. The trainer...
Technically, it is illegal for the trainers to play their personally purchased music (ipod, CD's, whatever) in a business, period. There are also restrictions on public broadcasts such as TV and radio that have to be taken into consideration. A business may not broadcast copyrighted content...
I've never seen one actually go to court as far as a martial arts school is concerned, but generally (in Texas, at least), signed liability waivers are upheld and enforceable to the letter in court.
Even posted signs ("We are not responsible for broken windshields" on the back of dumptrucks)...
I was at an afterparty after one of our concerts on the east coast a couple months ago. Someone who knew of me was out there telling everyone how skilled I am and about the one inch punch. I was partying and not really wanting to get into that with a bunch of strangers at the moment. Half the...
Yes, he did. And yes, we do. It's one of the demonstrations I'm asked to perform just about everywhere I go lol.
With that said, it is just an isolated technique to demonstrate the ability to generate short relaxed power without loading up, which is what the Wing Tsun biomechanic engine trains...
I've studied multiple lineages of JKD, from the early Jun Fan (Jesse Glover's guys), to Inosanto's concepts, Paul Vunak's lineage, and a few others, however I am an instructor of the Jerry Poteet lineage of JKD. I am also an instructor of Wing Tsun.
Here's a bit of info to let soak in; Bruce Lee technically didn't even write the Tao of Jeet Kune Do. It was compiled, organized, arranged, and published a few years after his death by his widow Linda Lee-Cadwell, Dan Inosanto, and the editor Gilbert Johnson, borrowing heavily from the book he...
