There was an article I read maybe 6-9 months ago in which the author said something along the lines of "violent attacks happen with more suddenness, X, Y, and Z than most people think". I don't remember the other three attributes and now I can't find the article again.

Does this ring a bell with anyone and if so, do you have a link? It was a free article and I think on a martial arts forum or site.

Hmm that is familiar, aye - I think someone on this site has it in their signature ... I shall have a look.

Let me save some time... It's a quote from Rory Miller; it's his 4 Truths about violence.

Real violence happens closer, faster, more suddenly, and with more force (harder) than you expect.
