I like the top three a lot, especially the impact of the stone in #1, but the last two look a bit washed out, esp. #4.
Wooowww....I love it, especially the one of the Alamo. Its a beautiful shot, yet you've really captured the solemnity of the Mission. The Lake Erie lighthouse looks interesting too.
There are two pics there that I don't recognize, the sunset and the waterfall. Where were they from?

Waterfall is Letchworth, middle falls.
The sunset is a rest area in Ohio outside Cleveland.
Alamo shot is the same one I've posted here before, but reprocessed from scratch from the original digital files (all are done same way)
Light house is same shot I posted a few months back, but in black and white.

Waterfall had a lot of mist in the air that day which does that. I'm checking from another system to see what might need tweaking.
Love the shot of Susan, too.
For some reason the last shots you posted seemed a touch too process. Could have been a nut loose on the keyboard too but these shots are gorgeous.
Not to hijack this but I went out shooting a small waterfall today and realized......I suck at shooting waterfalls. Its so much harder to make it look good when the water is moving! :lol:

2 options
fast shutter to freeze the water, or slow shutter and a tripod for the flowing water effect.

ISO is basically light sensitivity. 100 is less sensitive than 400, but less grainy as well.
To freeze water, try a shutter speed of 1/250 or 1/320 or greater (high sun might take 1/1000 for example)
To blur it and get that misty effect, try 1/30 or 1/60.
Adjust Fstop to something like F8 or tighter (F11 maybe). This lets less light in so you can do longer exposures, and also expands the depth of focus so more of the shot is in focus.

Great shots, but I don't think I like the effect as much on live action subjects. It looks great with Susan because she is still, but with the martial artists...I'm not sure.
I loved the cannon shot before, I think I like it even better now!

These so far are experiments, I've got a few more I'm still fine tuning going in a completely different direction for my portraits I'll hopefully have locked in in a day or 2 that rock.
The shot with Susan is a light example, in that the details are sharp yet things like skin are smooth. The effect I'm working on is an uber realistic painting effect that's almost there. Challenge is it effects each subject in unique ways depending on a huge range of factors such as skin color, tone, condition, lighting, etc. Women get a softer level, men a little harder for a more rugged feel, and then you factor in age, youth looks younger, while older GM types reflect experience.....also makes a wicked B/W shot.

Wow. It is a gorgeous effect. I just don't think like it as much with the live action. It gives a sort of portrait/still life feel to something that's....neither, if that makes any sense.
What editing program are you using? Are these custom or presets?

I like the pic's the water fall and the cannon are my favorites and Susan. Some of the action shots loose some of the crispness at the edges.
