12-12-2009 11:41 PM:In his first fight back with the UFC after fighting for the ill-fated Affliction, Paul Buentello lost a majority decision to Stefan Struve, 29-28, 29-28 and 28-28.

Early in the fight, it was clear that the 6'11" Struve wanted to go to the ground but Buentello had no interest in getting off of his feet. In the first round, Struve pulled guard and locked Buentello into a body triangle which Struve turned into a rear naked choke. Buentello stayed patient and got out of it with just a few seconds left.

The second round belonged to Buentello who knocked down Struve early in the round. Struve tried for guard but slipped off. When they got back to their feet, Struve came charging in for a flying knee, and Buentello rocked him with an overhand right. The round ended with the pair throwing bombs at each other.

Struve survived, though, despite losing part of his tooth to his mouthpiece. Between the second and third round, Struve's mouthpiece had to be examined by the doctor because a piece of Struve's tooth was stuck in it.

Struve changed up his game plan for the final round, and started to throw leg kicks throughout the third. Buentello, who typically has a boxing stance, had trouble blocking the kicks, and the damage started to affect his movement.
