I decided to start a thread dedicated to my daily lesson plans. I think it's important for teachers to record what they teach so they can look back and reflect on it later. For readers of this thread, my lessons usually start with basics, isolate a section of a form, and then we spar with whatever principle we're working with. Interspersed, I try to mix in some esoteric things.

Keeping detailed records of your lessons is an excellent idea. Seems laborious, but saves you time in the long-run and will finally making your teaching much more logical.

Thanks. I'm also making a place where I can collect them and eventually reflect on them.

My last couple of lessons have been review of basics and kata. I taught Pinan Yon Dan to some students the other day. This is the first kata with an obviously life threatening move, so we had an important discussion about life protection and the use force. Here's my latest lesson plan.

My last lesson was a review session.

We covered the following.

Yoga for the Martial Artist
Pinan Nidan and Pinan Yondan

Then we held pads and covered the following strikes

Basic punch _____
Palm strike _____
Knife hand _____
Back fist _____
Hammer fist _____
Fore arm strike _____
Front kick _____
Heel kick _____
Side kick _____
Roundhouse kick _____
Stomp kick _____
Knee kick _____
Spear hand_____
Ridge hand _____
Elbow strikes _____
Leopard palm _____
Push Kick _____
Low sweeping kick_____
Low instep kick _____
Low jamming kick _____
Leg Check _____

And after that we were very sweaty and tired, so it was a good class.
