LeCLAIRE, Iowa — LeClaire city officials are opening the door to the possibility of more gun manufacturing facilities moving to the city.

“The city has been preliminarily approached by one or more other firearms manufacturers to possibly locate here,” City Administrator Edwin Choate said.

At Tuesday night’s committee-of-the-whole meeting, City Council members discussed how the city would respond to any future proposals and potential site locations.

The talk occurred eight days after city officials approved a development and site plan agreement with the Les Baer Custom gun manufacturing to relocate that company’s headquarters from Hillsdale, Ill., to LeClaire.
