Hi all,

In another thread the art of "Iron Crane" is mentioned. I'm interested in hearing what connection it has to the Crane-Fist arts of either Okinawa or China. Anyone???

Well, I suspect I mentioned it - Iron Crane is the name of one of the schools of Gun Fu, as well as being the name of a form.

Crane is one of the Animal Fighting Styles taught in Gun Fu. In addition, at the Iron Crane school of Gun Fu, our style is influenced by Isshinryu (we use many of their stances and kata), which traces it's lineage to Shorin-ryu, and Matsumura brought White Crane style to Shorin-ryu...

I don't know however whether our Crane Style is based on this or has other origins.

Sensei Bear,

Thanks for the reply. I am very familar with Isshinryu and Matsumura Seito so I'd say that your Crane is somewhat removed from the Fujian Original. Would I be right in saying your art is more Karate orientated???

With respect,
