The Martial Arts - (aka MAAC) Festival has been an informal gathering of martial artists from around the nation for many years. It started as a group of folks from the Martial Arts discussion forum on deciding to get together for a weekend of [painful] fun and frivolity.

This year, though, the group has decided to do an actual seminar kind of setting. The host this year (and most of the previous years) is Eric Turner. Some of you may remember Eric as one of the guest instructors at my 2006 Triple IMPACT seminar in Louisville.

I plan to teach some flexible weapons and, time permitting, some empty hands vs. blade. I'm not sure who else will be presenting but I know that the likely candidates from previous years are good, solid martial artists from a variety of backgrounds.

Here are the details if anyone is interested and able to attend or wants to share them with someone else who might be.

    When: July 12th, 2008 - Workshops from 10 AM - 2 PM(ish), then a break for lunch, followed by impromptu demonstrations, teaching, sparring from 3:30 - ???
Where: Knoxville Martial Arts Academy (Inside the Farragut Family YMCA)
    10709 Kingston Pike
    Knoxville, TN 37934

Seminar fee is $30 for the workshop portion (the whole time from 10 - 2) and $15 for the after-lunch sessions. Due to space constraints, the number of participants will be limited to 30 people.

As of 3/2/08 we had 10 - 15 people already confirmed so there are really only 15 - 20 slots left. If you're interested (and I hope some of you are) contact Eric at
