This is a clip of Master Funakoshi Gichen performing Kata Empi. This form is more commonly known as Wanshu in Okinawa. The film was made in 1924 and is one of only a few films of the Master.

This is a rare old movie clip of the founder of Shotokan, Funakoshi Gichen, performing Meikyo kata. Meikyo is the Japanese name given to an Okinawan form said to be Rohai. This performance was filmed in 1924.
