How to cut Kamagong sticks?

I've been through allot of Kamagong sticks,we use them allot in our school for drills and they cracked and break really easily. Now i have allot of broken sticks that are collecting dust. i tried cutting one of them for our eight year old student (not for drills but as a gift) but i broke my saw. I tried a metal saw( medium metal lenox blade) but it took forever.Any suggestions? It would be much appreciated.
