I liked that! I know nothing about Eskrima at all. Are the fingers kept open then with, I assume, the stick bewtween thumb and hand?

No Tez3 they are not. But the animation with the open hand shows where the thumb and fingers would be and then they would wrap around the stick ie. grab and where the palm of the hand is on the stick.
