I just saw some of this show on TLC I think it was.
They discussed developing some Martial Skills for Law Enforcement. I will try to watch it again. It was interesting. The show dealt with giving officers non-lethal options to control law-breakers. For a long time law enforcement apparently had no grappling skills, even skills to restrain people on the ground.

I'll post again after I watch the whole thing and pay more attention.

Most of the departments in my area give their officers a VERY basic course in restraint techs. A great many of the officers turn to dojos for anything that may actually be useful on the job.
