I'm sorry but there are many clients that do not want armed guards. I have never needed a Pistol Permit on the Jobs I have had so I don't chose to carry. That is my choice. I have had many top clients that request this.

Don't armed guards get paid more ? Since you already have top clients that request armed escort, would you not want the extra money and experience ?

I don't even know what to say about having Ashida Kim there, Mr. Roley. It almost makes me wonder if the whole site's a hoax--a parody. It's over-the-top.

I agree with your analysis of these orgs., in general. Is there a notable exception?

Update,

Ashida Kim is not just a consultant, he is a member in good standing with them.

http://www.eaglefederation.com/eaglefed/efregistry/registry.php

He is the second from the bottom.

Any pretense of this group having high standards or checking the credentials of their members just went out the window. You only need to read his web site to see that he is a rather unhinged individual. There is a story in the horror section about how he proved to be a lying coward as well.

Bruce tried to defend Ashida Kim when he first came on the board. Now I know why. They both try to establish reputations off of their associations with others. And in that case if one of them is a fraud, then they all must be.

If Bruce actually had a pistol permit in NYS, you can bet he would have posted it. This means he doesn't "choose" to carry -- because he can't do it legally in this state.

Slightlt off-topic, but could you explain what you mean by that ? Do you mean that it is hard to get a pistol permit in NYS ?

Good point. Of course, I am afraid that no one here is taking seriously the idea that someone would hire an unarmed bodyguard. And since it is probable that Bruce will again fail to provide some sort of proof like the name, etc of the agency he claims hired him or anything else- we are just going to see more of the same here.

Yes, It's very difficult. Getting a "sport" carry permit is fairly easy for hunting purposes, but a "concealed" carry is a difficult and lengthy process.

So, we have a guy who:

- is overweight, and dealing with several serious illnesses
- cannot prove his training with anything by self-made certificates.
- has spent minimal time in any one art
- claims to be recognized by the World Combat Martial Artists Association, yet doesn't appear to be listed on their site
- claims to work closely with Bob Koch, yet Mr. Koch's web site has no mention nor any photos of Mr. Calkins. Mr. Koch's website has been up since late 2000. Surely in 5 years, there'd have been a mention of Bruce?
- claims both a title and a rank that is rare in legitimate martial arts circles, which were supposedly granted after a grueling video test.
- claims to be a licensed bodyguard, yet his credentials as supplied appear to be little more than what you can buy yourself or an employer would provide.

The only conclusion I can make is that Mr. Calkins has a nasty habit of exaggerating his experiences, has been repeatedly mislead by his own instructors, and has fabricated qualifications in order to sooth his own need to be a leader, and be accepted as a man.

As a result, he is neither a leader, nor a man. Just a sad, pitiful individual, who is desperate for attention and validation. I doubt he'll show at the MT M&G. 5 minutes on the floow with any real martial artists will show him to be what he is, and his ego won't allow him to expose himself to any enviroment where he isn't "the great soke".

Bah to him, and his ilk.
I pretty much agree with the entire post except for the part that I highlighted. When Bruce first showed up his lack of training, experience and knowledge were evident. The more information he can gain from the good people on this format the better he can now defraud the public!

This pretty much sums up everything about The reat Soke of New York. If you go back to the www.goldendragondojo.com website there are some modification such as

-His only certification left is with the Eaglet Federation ( I say eaglet because the "Soke" handing out Sokeship is a mere baby himself)

- Second, He is the only instructor left of Intructors lister on his site.

The Final Anylsis and conclusion:

No, He is not going to change and he has been exposed as a fraud and a liar. a little birdie ( Source anonymous at this time) from an organization has emailed me with this statement:

Hello Sir,

as you might have noticed, Bruce Calkins was removed from the XXXXX roster. When he 1st joined about 3 years ago, he was listed as a 5th
degree in Tsunami Ryu.

Then not long after that he sent in a request to be recognised as 10th Degree Soke in Fusho Satori Ryu (sp?). His request was promptly turned down due to the fact that his bump up in rank was not consistent with standard ranking procedures, and I told him exactly that.

I asked him to send in recognition from other orgs. His reply was that he was
unable to do so due to the fact that his rise in rank was brought about
by his "board of Yudansha" within his own school. I told him that wouldn't
cut it
.

I was then bombarded by e-mails, probably from himself and his students stating that he should be recognised due his time in, his selfless
teaching of underpriveleged kids for free, and about a dozen other reasons that I don't remember. After his relentless requests, the regrettable mistake
was made to go ahead and give him the recognition, owing to the fact that
our site states that the ranks claimed are not awarded by us, and that the
individual is responsible for all rank & titles claimed.

After further review, we realised that was a big mistake, and he was
promptly removed from our site, and a request was sent to him asking
that he remove any reference to the XXXXX from his site.

I've been following the threads on martialtalk.com, and I cringed anytime the XXXXX was mentioned.

Another statement he wrote was that I approached him for membership,
which is an outright lie. He submitted an application to us, not the other
way around.[/

I noticed the swift removal of Bruce's posts from the site concerned. I must commend them for this prompt response to YOUR polite and respectful question. The Email you received, shows just how much impact the discussions on this forum can have.

Well done to you for your action. Well done to them for their response.

... although I DO like to see old washing left hanging out, just so I can come back to it and read it again later. It is a shame that the old posts were deleted. A good job we had them cut and pasted already ;)

Wow! Now how can you not be impressed by that!

Note to self: If MY grandfather tries anything like that, WHAM! It's "Gemini in action" time.

Yes,
Bruce has mentioned that he wears a simple white belt trimmed with gold in a very visible sign of his humbleness.

I happen to disagree with that line of thinking. I do not like it when people try to impress me. People who use titles a lot or otherwise brag just strike me as being insecure and petty.

But those that try to impress me with very visible signs of how humble they are still trying to impress me. Maybe you can say they are trying to be more sneaky about it.
