I have been studing for 1 year, and just received my green belt. I came from other styles (Aikido, and a "mixed" MA class) and knew I wanted to study San Soo after I saw 1 class, due to the multitude of techniques and the simple way the master (Paul Borisoff) was teaching.

The style seems to be taught mostly in Southern California, which is where Jimmy Woo lived when he brought the art here from China.

There are combinations of strikes/kicks, takedowns, joint locks (leverages) and creativity is encouraged in terms of combining techniques once the student reaches yellow belt. We also have forms, but 2 person applications are the main focus, with a very strong emphasis on proper footwork, consisting of what is called "the basic eight".

I get something out of every class, and am very excited about studying this art. Feel free to email me for any more info. [email protected].

Thanks! Randy
