[h=5]An open letter to the candidates for President:

Gentlemen,

The election is nearly upon us. Please, let's agree to leave it behind us after tomorrow, Election Day. Win, lose, or draw -- let it end with the vote. No months of litigation following the election. No legal battles for every last hanging chad, absentee vote held up in the mail system, or whatever. Do the Nation, and the victor, the service of stepping back, and letting them get on with the job. It's going to be hard enough, no matter who wins, without stalling and delaying their ability to get on with it by endless law suits. One will win, others will lose. Winners -- be gracious about it. Losers -- don't be jerks. Show the world the real triumph of our Nation: that every four years, we peacefully change or affirm our government, without bloodshed and without clamor.

Sincerely,
A Citizen and Voter

[/h](I do realize there are more than 2 candidates, but let's be real. The Libetarian, Green, Constitutional, and other parties won't make the fuss that the other major party will.)

Thats no likely if either side believes the other has manipulated the vote by voter intimidation at the polls or claims of fraudulent voter registration, miss information about where and when to vote, throwing out millions of cast ballots by claiming obsure rules or discriminator rules by governors or voting administrators. If Gore would have had a pair instead of worrying about civil war he would have pressed the issue over the manipulated Florida vote and we would not have the Bush and Chenney legacy today!!

Unless there is a large margin in this race both sides will fight for thier position we are becoming tribal in this country and facts and basic decent rules of fair play are fading.

Apparently they are already lining up the lawyers for expected challenges--Florida and Ohio, I gather.

Yeah, because in both states the rules are being changed so close to the election, causing some problems. Hopefully it won't be an issue that effects the election.
