Re: How Women's Training differ from men's training

I would say that I personally don't generally train men differently from women.

I teach wing chun which was meant to have been designed by a woman (although the debates rage on), and the moves we do work for everyone

The only difference is that any torso strikes we do in training have to be a little higher so as not to punch the breast.

Women are shaped differently to men but they are still a human. They can hit just as hard (and harder in a lot of cases).

All I do say to women training under me is that most emphasis should be on training grab drills. In the street it is more likely that a guy will grab a girl rather than hit her (except in doemstic incidents etc).

With regards to C section - yowzer that has made my legs go weak.
I would advise any student who has any kind of operation, injury or condition to consider these when training. Unfortunately I cannot judge how much a person can take. If they are feeling pain or doing a move that will cause them discomfort then there are ways around it

Re: How Women's Training differ from men's training

I had a caesarian four years ago but really I don't feel any different than I did a year after the surgery. One year is ample time for recovery unless there was some sort of complication. Sometimes your ab muscles are a little weaker than someone who hasn't had a baby and sometimes the skin may be more sensitive where the scar is but this generally wouldn't interfere with training. Obviously if the woman felt differently than I would let her feelings be your guide.
