Re: Looking for an bjj coach ~~~
you want a guy who is preferably a female to teach your aunt, even if he-she is a white belt? Ok, 'bad' training can actually be worse than no training at all. If your aunt picks up bad habits from her white-belt instructor she will LEARN those bad habits, and they're hard to get rid of sometimes.

Re: Looking for an bjj coach ~~~
Where (which part) of Los Angeles do you live? You do know there are other types of jujitsu/jujutsu styles besides BJJ? How old is your aunt? A young woman? An adult? Why would you prefer a female instructor?
Your post sounded rather urgent, and the fact you are willing to accept a white belt as an instructor for your aunt tells me that something may have happened. If nothing actually happened and you are just simply helping her find a club, then I apologize for my misunderstanding. If you let us know which area your aunt lives, we may be able to direct you to a judo/jujutsu club nearby. It would be better for the instructor to be a black belt. The black belt instructor will be able to understand whatever issues that may be present. With a black belt instructor, he/she will be able to show ways of handling herself safely (how to fall properly, how to escape holds properly, how to do throws, etc.) An instructor usually has encountered students who are struggling with certain experiences, and will generally know how to guide/deal with them. A white belt usually does not have much control or experience and may not understand the nuances of the style. For these reasons, a white belt is not recommended as an instructor. Think again what you are asking and seek for a qualified instructor. Also consider whether your aunt wants to train. If she doesn't, then she will not learn very much. Let her determine where/how she wants - she needs to feel comfortable where she is training and how she relates with the instructor. - Ceicei

Re: Looking for an bjj coach ~~~
Los Angeles has MANY great instructors, Marcus Vincius, Rey Diogo, the Rickson Gracie guys, Caique, Wander Braga. Virtually an embarrasment of riches for you to choose from.
Just google Los Angeles BJJ and you can have your pick of supremely qualified instructors for your aunt. |

Re: Looking for an bjj coach ~~~
Hi,
Thank you for the comments. Actually, my aunt would like to have partner(s) practise with her. Considering that she doesnt have time to join a regular club. In fact, she has experienve on bjj, she trains it about 2 years in japan (white belt). Originally, she could get her blue belt but she finally gave it up because she needed to come back USA. In addition, she is about 33 years old now. Anyone can help her plz leave a comment, thanks~~~ |

Re: Looking for an bjj coach ~~~
Thanks for the explanation. It helps us understand your request better.
If she is only looking for a BJJ practice partner, I suggest she go down to the local club to meet some others. Perhaps after meeting a few, there will be someone who is willing to just get together to train for fun and put in practice time. When her life settles more, she may be able to find the time to formally join a club and train regularly. Another suggestion: If she has the finances, she may be able to arrange for private lessons with a black belt instructor on a schedule that is agreeable to them. - Ceicei
