Not a physician, but: This is called "spotting" and if it only happens occasionally it's probably no big deal. If it happens for a few months in a row it merits further investigation. Mention it at your next check-up (make a note of when , how much, etc.).

shortly after i posted that i went onto a website called doctors lounge or something and read about it, this is the first time it has happened, so nothing to worry about
