I have noticed that a lot of kenpo "seniors" are very overweight . I always thought that martial artists needed mind, body, and spirit to achieve and maintain superior skills. Does this mean when you reach a certain level you can slack off in one or more areas? What kind of message is that sending to their students? Isn't maintaining good physical condition essential to staying in top form? I can understand old age slowing you down some but I cant understand letting yourself get so out of shape. 60 % of Americans are overweight. Martial artists, especially black belts, are supposed to be the top 3 %. Whats goin on?
