I was going to answer each one of those, but I realized that I don't think it should be that way.

I think we should all be coaches. Our job is to increase the performance level of each of our athletes. I think you should strive to be the best coach possible, meaning that you:

...care about your athletes.

...train them to be as effective as possible.

...help them take responsibility for their own progress.

...have a lot of personal experience that will help you coach them.

...never see yourself as "finished" or see your goals as "done."

...see your own ability level, like your athletes, as constantly improving.

...incorporating new ideas and methods that will improve your impact.

...are motivational without placing yourself on a pedestal (or worse, in a pulpit).

...are no better or worse than any of your students. You appreciate them and their cooperation.

...are no "higher" than any other coaches. You strive to be the best that you personally can be.
