Well, it's happening. We rented a house in Michigan, and I picked up the keys Wednesday night. Now we begin the process of moving everyone from North Carolina. Should be done by the end of May (we're doing it ourselves).
Here's some photos of the new place. I'll be taking photos and some video of the actual move and adding as time permits.

Great place Bill, and good timing if you are wanting to be planting a vegetable garden. Is the garage big enough to make a home workout area?

I think I can put some exercise equipment and/or a mat in the basement next to the pool table (the landlord left it in the basement, too big to move). I was looking at the rafters in the garage as maybe a place to hang a heavy bag. I'd like to have one, but I've never owned one before.

I'm pleased that you'll be reunited with your family. That had to be tough.
I guess we'll be seeing less of you on the boards?

Very nice Bill. I love the yard, too bad it gets so cold there you could never have an outdoor gym you use all year.

-Congrats Bill!! My girlfriend and I just closed on a house lastweek. We were supposed to take possession on Tuesday this week but the former owners hadn't cleared out yet. Apparently, for some people, what you expect and what you agree to may not be the same thing. We suspected there may be an issue with these people, so in the contract, our realtor put in a requirement that everyday passed the actual date of posession, they had to pay us $300.00. Think we're up to $900 now, lol. Talk about being your own worst enemy.
-Good luck with the moving!

I've heard of such things! We're just renting, though. A bit more expensive, but easier to deal with. At the moment, we'd be unable to get a mortgage and that probably won't change anytime in the future, so we're just happy to have a roof over our heads.

I've actually been here for about three years now. The rest of the family was patiently waiting in North Carolina...
But yes, I'm quite glad to be moving everyone to Michigan. It's a great state.

Nice looking house and garden indeed, Bill. As ever with things in America, it's on quite a grand scale compared to the little boxes we have to live in over here :envy:. Perhaps I can console myself with the thought that at least my house has two stories ... but a tiny garden :(.

-Bill: Renting is not a bad way to go, obviously, haha! Just another step. Having the family together is the most important thing. We now have a 30 year mortgage but we got a great deal on the house, got the former owners to fix and/or pay for things that needed to be done. New roof, radon mitigation, fix broken windows, sewer line repair and rooted, furnace cleaned and maintence. We have some cosmetic work to do but nothing major.
-Sukerkin: Thats something I look forward to, a garden! Better to have a small one than none. Us Americans like our space, for some reason. Elbow room, breathing room. The house has a decent back yard, although it has a rather large tree that might have to be removed at some point. But a garden, yes...maybe surrounded with razor wire...
-Wish you had more space over there.

Looks nice, Bill. I, myself, am a big fan of renting. All the fun and none of the headache of owning a house.
Looks like a nice house Bill!

Sooooooo happy for you!!!! :) :) :)
Hearty congratulations. I'm sure that has not been easy to be apart the way you have been, good on all of you for making it work. I'm just sorry I never had the chance to visit NC when you and the family were there to meet you in person. I hope that will happen one of these days, maybe in Buffalo!
Again, congrats, congrats, congrats...I hope all goes well. Thoughts and prayers going in your family's direction. :asian:

Congrats Bill, very nice place.
The most important thing is that you will be together with your family.
Is that a Wolf gas stove I see?
You'll have alot of fun cooking with that thing and even more fun eating.

Congrats, Bill.
And, Darksoul, at the rate you're going... you won't have to worry about the first month's mortgage! Hope that your previous landlord is cooperative, though...

I believe it is a Viking. The landlord is a baker, and my wife is also a baker. When the landlord heard that, she said she'd leave it for my wife to use. We're looking forward to it.

There is only one thing I will caution you on, Bill. The stove sounds great, but, "watch out for those "home cooked meals". http://www.martialtalk.com/forum/images/icons/icon7.gif

Viking is just as awesome!
We'll then, you won't have to worry about the cooking and can just focus on the eating, seasoned was right to caution you though, unless you're looking to take up Sumo wrestling, :uhyeah:
