Hello everyone,
I was hoping someone could clarify something for me a bit.
What exactly does "kilat" or "kilap" mean and what does it entail?
I thought it meant "lightning" but I've been told and shown different things by different people and was curious if anyone a had a concrete definition of what it is. Not just the definition but also the application.
I have also been told that it was (is) a style unto itself. One of the things I have been shown that is supposed to be part of it is a strike to the hand that has already struck that is still in contact with the opponent to either realign the opponent, off balance them or drive a weapon farther.
Have any seen this before? (Assuming my explanation makes sense)
Thanks.
Respectfully,
Nathan

The Indonesian word means lightning, correct. Other than that, there is no concrete definition.

As far as a martial application or style...be careful. The term "kilat" is used by several diffierent lineages, some more established than others and some use it to denote different meanings. It's a term that sees a bit of abuse in the west by practitioners trying to glorify how the name sounds.

Kilat means lighting in malay.

Your teacher could say punch as fast as "kilat" or punch as fast as lighting.
