Already in use by Departments and Academies alike, MTAC is a fully equipped and cost effective law enforcement training resource with classroom, open space and several realistic stages, including a hotel room, bank, jail cell, party store, house, car, SUV, School Bus, and breach door… and now this great resource is open to you!

Airsoft is a training tool that looks and operates like a firearm but shoots a non-lethal projectile. Airsoft is popular for recreation and training and is being used by law enforcement to conduct training simulations not possible with live fire. MTAC is a fully equipped training center that has several realistic training stages, like a six room house that Departments can use to train officers in a number of important tasks, like responding to a home invasion. Private citizens can also use the same resources to practice important skills, like home defense.
The facility is not limited to just training stages though. We have a classroom and plenty of open space that can be used to conduct any type of safety course.

Sounds nifty.
I wasn't aware that LEO was moving wholesale to Airsoft. I was under the impression that LEO were still using Simunitions for the most part and leaving Airsoft to us civvies.
Of course, Airsoft does have a lot going for it, much lower expense being one of the biggest.
Peace favor your sword,
Kirk

Simunition is great but it’s much more expensive and it's much harder on the participants. Airsoft is cheap, readily available and hurts just enough to be educational without being abusive or risking injury. Safety is also a concern because Simunition is normally shot from real guns, which create the possibility of live ammunition being used accidentally. This reality has resulted in the injury and death of a number of officers. Airsoft cannot shoot live ammunition and is clearly distinguished by an orange tip at the end of the barrel.
I am actively involved in law enforcement training and every department that we work with is using Airsoft. It's a great tool.

Another issue with Simunitions is that they make practice ammo of all types - including target ammo that can be lethal when shot at another person. Just because someone has chambered a round labeled "Simunitions" doesn't mean that the round is safe. I think now Simunitions is promoting mod kits so once a gun is modified for less-lethal rounds, it cannot fire a lethal/live round again.
Interesting idea Ian - good luck with the endeavor!

Ouch, that’s expensive. I think Simunition is on the way out. It was a great innovation but Airsoft just has too many advantages.
Thank you all for the kind words.

Thank you all for the interest in MTAC. Our facility was just used by Troy SWAT, Warren SWAT and the instructor staff of the Macomb Community College Police Academy. Thank you also to San Marco Training, LLC, CCW Defenders, Live Safe Academy, LLC, Lou Chiodo of GUNFIGHTERS, Ltd., and Sensei Roy Osborne for scheduling classes as well. Because of your support, we have as many as 5 events in one weekend alone.
Instructors, we want your classes. Safety and self-defense programs of all types are welcome. Rates are very reasonable and we treat you with respect. We even help promote your workshops on our website and through e-mail. And MTAC is a great place to conduct private lessons.
If you know of anyone interested, we are also looking to host a weekly martial arts program.
Please contact me for a tour.
Stay Safe!
