I have heard that the Japanese Metropolitan Police are allowed to train in one of two or three different systems of defensive tactics and upon graduation from their police academy are awarded a black belt in that system. Can anyone clarify what they learn, is there any manuals on their systems and what is involved (on a side note I have heard that the Genbukan head used to conduct police training but call it hear-say since I have not investigated it).

Yoshinkan aikido has the senshusei (http://www.yoshinkan.net/contentsE/honbuE.html) program, where the riot police spend a year in intensive training in that style of aikido. I'm not sure if there are similar programs with other martial arts. I think someone posted a video of another Japanese police organization's training a while back, too.

I always thought Police in Japan train in Judo,Taihojutsu,Tokushu keibo, and Jojutsu or Jodo. I am unsure what the "clubs" train in I think the arts I listed above are basic H2H training.
