WOW! After having no power in Sikeston, MO Since early Tuesday, Jan 26 2009- A date, to many in the area that will live in infamy!

Two to four inches of freezing rain fell for 48 hours. In my town of Sikeston, MO It looks like Mr. Freeze dropped a 10 mega ton Ice bomb. The ice took down trees as far as you can see- big trees! Leaving as many as 100,000 people with out power! They say possibly up to two to ten more days before full power is restored.

I just got my generator about an hour ago, and I must say, Shew! It was 35 degress in my house. Stedily warming as I write.

Mother Nature has an outstanding way keeping us humble.

Things could have been much worse, No trees that fell hit my house, others weren't so lucky.

Lesson- Be prepared

#1. Buy a generator_NOW!
#2. Have fuel ready for generator

Here in Springfield the storm wasn't nearly as bad as the ones we've had in the previous two years. I deliver pizzas and driving in four inches of snow on top of two inches of ice sucked, but last year was far worse, and two years ago many of my family members lost power for weeks during the storm.

I had my mom, dad, brother, sister and grandmother living with my wife and I in our tiny two bedroom apartment. Cozy.

At least this time we kept our power on and I didn't have to get towed out of people's driveways three times.

Thanks Terry! It will take some time to clean the mess- They say, early to mid march. The great thing is already neighbors are helping each other. You can see the stress on peoples faces, yet people smile at one another!

It was eerie and SCARY to listen to all the trees cracking and popping under the weight of the ice. DARN dangerous ;)
