What do you wear to train in?
Multiple choices are allowed, but only pick items you wear REGULARLY.

I thought I saw this question somewhere else around here
Anyway since you asked, we wear the traditional TKD dobok V-neck top and pants and no shoes. During the summer months we're given the option of wearing the dojang's "official" t-shirt instead of the traditional V-neck top.

standard black century uniform (hate it)
bringing up the question, anyone know where I can get a full black, judo-style, heavy weave uniform (I have no idea what the proper names are for that style)?
I can't stand the heavy canvas type material that is used in the century ironman. so my instructor and I want black judo/juijitsu type gi's.

I've got one of the Jukado Primos, and it is an excellent gi.
See: http://www.juka.com/uniform/jukado.htm#linkPrimo
I don't like the Ryoyo, it may be heavier duty, but I don't think it can stand up to heavy duty grappling like the fabric of the Primo can.
Hope that helps,

Although it's a Chinese system, Yilichuan requires students to wear a fold-over front (karate style) jacket with appropriate training trousers (either straight-legged or bloused, as used in many Chinese systems). However, many of our members still wear the traditional Mandarin-collared Chinese jacket.

I generally work out in sweats, t-shirt, and wrestling shoes. This is pretty standard attire in the arts I train in.
The closest thing we have to a "uniform" is a school t-shirt. Though at the home school of Shen Chuan in Texas, most people there wear gi when they train. But it's not required. The only thing required is a school shirt and rank belt. But when I'm teaching Shen Chuan here in Kentucky, I don't require anything except that people be dressed :)

In my ex-kung-fu school we use to wear the traditional chinese martial arts uniform, although the sifu and most of them use to wear the jacket, use the students wore a black t-shirt with the schools logo "HUNG-GA" in my case and a hand over the fist like if your bowing, with some chinese letters sayin the sifu's name.

At the last kwoon in which I trained, we were required to wear black pants (most often sweatpants) and the school t-shirt. Wrestling shoes were most common as we were allowed to wear them on the mats during grappling.
Outside of school (haven't trained there in two years), I usually wear a pair of hospital scrub pants (I dyed them black and they are pretty cool) and a comfortable shirt. For any "real life" simulation training that I do (ie. knife, multiple attacker etc.), I try to wear street clothes or sometimes even a suit (these days that's my standard attire).

Traditional gi in the dojang, as usual.
And street clothes and shoes if I'm outside it (for realism).
I think there's already been a thread on this subject way back when, but that's okay, it's still a good topic.

Black or White Gi. Usually some mix.
I tend to wear shoes but it's 50/50 for the rest of the students.
In Summertime and warm weather, we are permitted to wear Gi pants and a school t-shirt rather than the Gi top.

Probably too much information but... I wear two white/black collar V-neck doboks that have been ruined by bleach arrgh but I still use to sweat in. I have one good V-neck embroidered on the back with the school logo and that is strictly for tournaments. I also have a red, and two black doboks.
So that pretty much covers me for the week.
I used to like to wear a t-shirt and dobok pants when I went in to the dojang alone to practice but I like to practice with sleeves now to hear the snap when blocks and strikes are done correctly and with more power. TW

a lot of us at the school have become very keen on Under Armour, and most will wear an Under Armour tshirt with gi pants, some with mat shoes, some without. more often than not, since we've been outside quite a bit for the past few months, I've been wearing my shirt with a pair of black jeans and my mat shoes. most of us have red/black gi tops with all the required patches that we wear when needed.

I have three WTF black V-necks I use. Two with patches, one without. At home I just practice in whatever I'm wearing at the time. At the YMCA, I practice in my shorts and t-shirt. Really should get some new uniforms though. My current ones are getting a bit worn and discolored from use. Would be nice to have some brand new white V-necks to practice in:)

We wear plain white heavy weight GI's with no patches or motifs
Females must wear a plain white t-shirt underneath
In very hot summer months (not often in the UK!) after bowing in we can change to a plain white t-shirt but must replace the Gi top when bowing out.
No belt can be worn when only wearing a t-shirt.

in judo it's the heavy gi
in jujutsu it's usually the heavy gi...but sometimes we'll go without the top to work on stuff without the aid of the gi..

Train like you fight and you will fight like you trained.
We wear sneakers, socks at times.... but generally we train in clothing and footwear that is middle of the road that you would wear in an everyday circumstance. I have a pair of black "business casual" slacks that I teach in and a t-shirt. I wear a black leather belt sometimes because, well it just feels right for that day.

tonight in jujutsu we worked out in a classroom on campus...
we usually train after my instructor teaches the personal defense class and we were in classroom watching a video of kyuzo mifune and talked about some striking...
so afterward we just decided to say in street clothes and do some enviroment training...great stuff...
I wear a black gi with no shoes or socks most of the time...now when my sensei and I are just talking at a function or where all just messing around at a party or something we will just mess around in our street colthes...but when we are having class or where at tournaments or visiting other schools we dress traditionally......usually...unless something is broken (I.E. the tie around part on my gi top came off when i got kicked by a TKD guy at a tournament so i haven't been wearing it. but when its fixed it will be on like normal.)

When I taught in a formal school (TKD) I wore a heavy weight (15oz) black REI gi. I went through some sado mashocist period or something because that was a real rough feeling gi. I finally wised up and after several years stepped down to the 12oz cotton black heavy weight REI gi. For testing I wore a white gi.
For years back in the 80s and early 90s I favored the KI heavy weight gi, that is until they went way out of my price range. Which is when I found the REI gi. Up until a couple of years ago this was still one of the best priced gi that I could find, with good quality as well.
Now when I teach Arnis I just wear generally black or blue BDU style shorts or long pants and whatever T shirt is available. The only problem with the BDU style pants that I have found is that I have ripped the inside of the pant leg a time or two teaching ground work techniques (thank goodness my students were male, otherwise it could have been embarassing :) ). Buit I never ran into that problem with the gi bottoms.

i all really depends on who is at the class, and what we are doing. if its a test day we are reallt tradional. if where just playing with combos, we'll just wear our pants and whatever shirt/(for guys no shirt) we want.

Depends on the day of the week.
During the weekdays, it's in full traditional Karate gi. Tokon Sovereign, or Arawaza Amber, depending on if I'm going to do more teaching (the Arawaza) or training (Sovereign).
On Sundays, when I'm there just to workout for myself, it's athletic shorts and a t-shirt.

I plan on getting a set of medieval ankle boots (http://www.revivalclothing.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=9), since the slick sole affects one's footwork. I's also like to get a good gambeson (http://www.matuls.pl/index.php?IDP=1&Lng=1&IDProdukt=48&IDKategoria=4&IDPodkategoria=6) when I get the funds.

I don't know whether the things I wear fo r training are traditional or not, but I don't think so ;).
It's a black pair of trousers (those kung-fu-like-things, apparently it says so on the manuracturerer's website) and a black T shirt with the name & logo of our style. For a 'belt' I wear a red selendang, but it's not a real selendang, it's a red satin thing.

I wear the same clothes as I woud if I were going to the store and that inclusdes ashoes. Since I will not be barefioot unless I'm at the beach, or wearing a Gi unless I'm at the studio, why not train in what I useually wear. I do this for one simple reason, practicality. If you train barefoot all the time and then have to defend yourself with a kick while wearing heavy boots, the kick has changed. Likewise, restrictive clothing such as jeans will have an affect so I think it's important to understand how your material will me affected.
