There is a growing problem in my area with older (5year range) vehicles that have a reputation for reliability (honda, toyota) being stolen. The thieves steal them and drive them staight to Mexico where they are instantly sold for 1500-2000$ . There is like a standing order for these. They are easy to steal, aren't high profile, and thier owners don't realize how 'in demand' they are. An investigation found that a high percentage of these cars were now owned by mexican police officers! My daughter works for an insurance agency so thats where I acquired this info. It is not 'public knowledge'.
