I think the secret to a long marriage can be summed up in two words. "Yes, dear" used with the correct inflection, of course:uhyeah:

Wow, imagine my surprise at coming home from The Day from Hell (movie to be released soon), and finding a thread with my name on it. Thanks, morph, for that, and thanks to all for the congrats. And yes, Q-G, to the same woman (smart ***).
The secret, Shesulsa? Haven't got a clue. 'Yes, Dear' is a nice start, but it won't take you far--maybe a decade or two. ;) Now, I am an expert on what not to do, but even single spaced it'd run to several hundred pages. :D
But a secret...hmmm....no, can't think of any pithy one liners. And gave up giving advice in AA (8th birthday is this week too). But since Ceicei was kind enough to ask, would probably just suggest something along the lines of: choose a saint for a partner (yeah, real helpful, huh?); let go of expectations as much as possible; realize you're both going to make personal changes on the magnitude of sea changes as you progress through developmental stages of life, and so 'happiness' is going to look different as you age together; realize we humans can only see ahead as far as we can see behind--that's why a 15 year old, who can only remember back maybe 10 years, can only see ahead 10 years, and so for her or him life ends at 25--anyone older than that is 'dead'; do the best you can with what ya' got; and remember, no matter what area of the relationship/life, it's never as good as it looks, and it's never as bad as it looks.
Hey, way past my bed time, so this is all probably nonsense. But doubt if anyone's up to read it anyway. No matter. Here's wishing for you all to reap many times the goodwill you've wished me and my soul mate. :) :asian:
