Had a thought... my GF just passed her BlackBelt test, and I 'borrowed' her techniques sheet. I'm currious on what it takes to reach Black in other schools. To that end, I'll be posting up what techniques were required at each belt level, and I'm hoping others will do the same, so we can compare and contrast things across organizational boundaries. I'm only going to be looking at full belt levels, so 'Advanced Yellow' for example will be included with Orange, etc.

A clarification question:
Are the techniques listed those needed to grade for a Purple belt, or those learnt once the Purple belt is attained??
Also what about Basics, Sets and Forms, e.g. what do people learn in strikes, blocks, etc. for Purple?

Another thought on this topic:
Does anyone know the particular thinking behind the choices of techniques for a particular grade? Is it purely on perceived difficulty, or reinforcement, or knowing/understanding the required basics, or some other grouping of certain techniques together??
