Chanbara

Has anyone heard of this new sport/art? Have you seen it in action? What's your take on it? It is a weapons program that uses padded weapons, so you can spar with it. interesting idea...but it almost seems to fit better into a ymca tae bo class. Don't know...need your opinions!!

saw a demo of some guys from Sei Do Kan (http://www.japaneseswordsmanship.com.au/Page_8.htm) dojo doing this, and it looked like a LOT of fun, and quite skillful - but they are all serious students. I'm not a swordsman, so cant relate any personal experience.

Also check out Virtual Chanbara (http://sydney.siggraph.org.au/conference/2002/html/emerging.html) - put together by a japanese university crew....looks like a lot of fun too...but im a chronic geek, so...whaddyagunnado?
