If you only had 2hrs. a week to teach...

I was checking out the thread, "If you only had 15 minutes to teach". Well we all know that you can't do much in that short a time. And without practice and a fighter's determined attitude, the most vicious, efficient technique can still fail. Hell, it's hard enough to develop practical fighting skills when you train a couple of times a week. Yet, that's all the time a lot of us have. As I said in the thread, "When Less is More?", a few really solid techniques that work are worth way more than a zillion flashy moves that won't. So here's my question: If a student of average ability comes to you for a couple of hours a week for six months to learn some practical FMA skills, what are the most valuable techniques you can give him? And, what would you toss aside?
